Stormy weather and sad things

It's been a while since I last posted - between the final workshops and the beginning of my kids' midterm exams this week I just haven't had the time or inclination. We have been having big storms all this week and for some reason it always seems to be raining really hard right when my kids have to bike to school. So I've been driving them, which means I get stuck in traffic on the way home and spend a lot more time than I am used to in my car. I have heard lots of interesting interviews on the radio, however...
The bad news which I first heard on the radio this week was of course the shooting in Liege - it is certainly frightening when these things happen so close to home. I feel terrible for the families that must be devastated losing their loved ones in such senseless violence. Two of the boys who died were 15 and 17 years old and had just finished exams at their schools and were waiting for the bus to come home for lunch. Just the same ages as my boys... I couldn't help thinking of their moms waiting for them to get back from school.

Rain + Sad Things makes the sad things even harder to hear. Hope your rain lets up soon.

I was thinking of you when I heard about that. I hope the rain lets up and you get some sunshine (literally and figuratively) in your life soon! :)

I was also thinking of you when I first heard about the shootings in Liege. How terrible and sad. And so unlike Belgium, one would think.

I was very stunned, it was such sad news and one of those things that makes your heart heavy if you try and make sense of it and ask why.

At least we know the rain will pass and the skies will clear.

It used to be that such horrible things happened only in the States. Then came shootings in Germany, Russia, and it keeps on spreading. This is very, very sad. I cannot imagine what the parents must be feeling. Hope there is good support for them.

I hadn't heard about the shooting. It always saddens me to hear of unnecessary waste of life. I know what you mean about putting yourself in the shoes of the mother. It would be totally devastating.

I'm so sorry to hear about the grenade attack in the city center of Liege!

This week another mad man killed two people from senegal with no reason here in Italy, in Florence!

Horrific news from Liege this week. It must feel even worse when you are in the country. Much sympathy to all affected by the shooting. xx.

I was shocked when I heard about Liege. I feel sorry for the families too. We had a similar incident in Alphen aan de Rijn Spring this year. I can't believe people do this.

About the rain: doesn't look it's getting better soon. No white Christmas for us but a rainy one.
