It was freezing cold and misty all day today (this is the view out back at about 4 pm this afternoon - it never warmed up enough to melt the frost off from last night). Stefaan and I took our oldest out for lunch to celebrate the end of his first big exam period and spent the whole day doing Christmas shopping...it was very cold but cheery with all the crowds of people, all marching by with festively wrapped packages. We had a delicious lunch at La Stanza, the wonderful Italian pasta place, and then a coffee at the Gambrinus, one of the oldest cafés in Leuven (the one right across from the best toy shop)! It was a tiring but fun day.

So, you know I don't really like cold weather. BUT! It sure does seem festive to imagine you three downtown shopping with all of the lights and especially enjoying a great cup of coffee. Somehow, a palm tree with Christmas lights on it doesn't always cut it!
